Anastasia comes from noble beginnings, evidenced by her confident posture and classic panache. Refined, clever, and polite, this gray mare has made quite a statement since she came to Rosenthal eight years ago. As a yearling, Anastasia was a proud girl; arrogant, curious and annoying to most of the other horses. Training her was a tough feat, as her fiery spirit fought hard against submission. But our trainers could see it in her, that dressage dancer waiting to break free. It was just a matter of teaching her how to channel that energy into something productive.

As years went on, Anastasia broke hearts with her grace, beauty, and natural talents. Blossoming into everything we had expected her to become, Anastasia has effortlessly transcended as one of the most successful and beloved mares here at Rosenthal. We have come to know and love Anastasia for her fiery spirit, the mare who never simply walks, but prances, right into the hearts of all who come by her.

Ana Rosenthal makes a trip to Germany every summer, keeping close ties with family and friends she has met and worked with in and out of her Dressage career. One fateful July afternoon, she got a call from esteemed trainer, and close friend of Ana’s, Dries Ostholt, regarding a young prospect he’d met during a clinic at a small showing stable in Württemberg.

His name was Authentic. And he was every bit of the real deal.

Auti, as we so affectionately call him, is the only horse of German descent at Rosenthal that knows half of his commands in the native language. Open-minded, Auti is an exceptional partner to any rider, always enthusiastic about trying what you may ask of him. He strives to please, and we believe this is why he’s excelled at all three English disciplines, making him one of the few eventing horses here at Rosenthal.

Icarus

A real head turner, Icarus is undoubtedly a flashy boy. We think that, given his lineage, he thinks himself a divine creature and thrives on attention, whether it's from an adoring crowd or the riders at our barn. Wherever he goes, he's always on alert, ears flickering in all directions. As a competitor, Icarus knows how to handle himself in and out of the ring. When it comes time to work, he gets down to business and always puts on a show.

At home, though, Icarus is completely lazy. You have to drag him out of his stall and chase him out of his paddock. Of course, being the piggy that he is, it's very easy to lure him out of things by shaking a bucket of grain or coaxing him with treats, but he loves to be naughty and often outwits our younger riders by stealing the treats and bolting back into his paddock. When you catch him though, he's quite obedient and will do anything you tell him. He's a very easy going guy.

He came to Rosenthal as an experienced performer, but since working with Ryan, Icarus has shown his true colors. We couldn't be more proud of him and we expect great things from his future offspring.

Bourbon was born and raised in southern Florida. He came to Rosenthal at the ripe age of five after his breeder, a long time friend of Ana, John Alvarez, had called her, hoping to find a new home for this promising young colt. Coming from lines including Anton and Fokke, Ana couldn't resist such an opportunity, as she was hoping to develop a breeding program for Rosenthal. At the time, she had also hired a new trainer, Cain Delacroix, whom provided Bourbon with a new focus: dressage. He has since made a name for himself. As a competitor, he moves with ease, with purpose, and with grace. Today he is without a doubt, the face of Rosenthal.

Around the barn, though, Bourbon is about as lax as a stallion can get. He's very obedient, which makes handling him a breeze, but when it comes to feeding time, he's a piggy and our barn staff has had their run with him a few times. That doesn't stop our young riders from spoiling him with treats though! Recently it was brought to our attention that he has been unusually noisy since the arrival of our friesian mare, Nova..
